Description
*!*!*!* \_/~\_/~\_/~\_/ It is said that 'Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder' It would be difficult to behold anything short of beautiful when it comes to the remarkable scrimshaw work on this piece. MUST SEE! \_/~\_/~\_/~\_/ Sandra Brady's superb talent graces this magnificent knife with a wildlife scene depiction titled "Cheetah Coalition." S. Brady is a lady renowned for her scrimshaw work and is a prominent presence in the knife industry. The knife handle is ivory clad on both sides with scrimshaw only on one(1) side. The sheath has scrimshaw ivory on one side and is polished steel on the other. The artwork depicts a stampede of wildebeest, zebra and giraffe on the African savannah with 3 cheetah in close pursuit. The scrimshaw is wonderfully detailed and colored and took the artist several months to complete. This very knife was pictured in a profile article on Sandra Brady's work in the December 1996 issue of Blade magazine. A copy of the article will be made available upon request to those interested. The knife itself was handmade by famous knife maker E.M. Lary. The knife w/ sheath has a nice weight to it in one's hand. DIMENSIONS: 11" long with 5 1/4" long blade. CONDITION: The ivory on the handle of the blade is attached with the aid of 6 steel pegs on either side -- 3 run on top and 3 on the bottom of each side. The bottom pegs on both sides have caused minor cracks from the pegs to the edge, only a few millimeters long. This is apparently due to the proximity of the pegs to the edge of the ivory. We assume they occurred with the original mounting of the ivory to the blade handle since a crack can be seen in the magazine article photo if one looks closely. However, cracks are not very noticeable and do not take away from the artwork and beauty of this item. Aside from those cracks, the Condition is Excellent!; the blade is extremely sharp. I can assure you that the winning bidder will NOT be disappointed with this fantastic knife. Whether a long-time collector or this is your first, don't miss out on this opportunity!
