Description
Mumei (unsigned) Chu Mihara school blade in Koshirae. Slightly machi-okuri taking it just under katana size. NBTHK Hozon papers. Looks like signature was removed for shinsa. Old polish. Small chip at the ha-machi. Old polish, but not as bad as it looks in the photos. Iron fittings with gold looking foil on seashells. Nice blade, excellent as a kantei piece as it is typical of the mihara workmanship. Iron tsuba is signed but difficult to read as slightly pitted. I was told blade is 'Chu'- Mihara 1430's. This in itself is quite rare. Item ships from Japan. Buyer must first wait two weeks for the relevant paperwork to be completed in order for the sword to leave Japan. Given the current situation with shipping companies and Japanese swords, buyer to specify shipping requirements and fully covers costs. Photo of tsuka and tsuba available on request.
