The blade is polished by hand with a distinctive mirror finish given to the blood groove.  These swords are more curved than the Imperial series and feature longer "Iris Leaf" points for more cutting and slashing potential.  The  Each sword blade is hand forged out of 1055 carbon steel and individually heat treated, tempered and polished by skilled hands.  The Cold Steel factory has used only traditional materials for their Japanese swords' fittings. The Tsuba (guard), Fuchi (collar), and Kashira (pommel) are expertly made and finely crafted from black iron. The Habaki (blade collar) is hand-made out of polished brass and each hilt is covered in black Same (ray skin) and tightly wrapped in the traditional "cross-over" style with teal cord. Comes with a blue travel bag as well as a heavy silk metallic brocade bag for display.  Most noticeable are the distinctive teal-green silk cord-wrap and black samé (ray skin) used on the handles and the black iron furniture that bears the dragonfly motif.
