Each ring is hammered flat, it is not made from washers. It is a skirt of 7" made to hang from the bottom of the helm to protect the neck. The neck hole is made sort of small, remove as many inner rings as you need to achieve a good fit to your helm. This 7" camail should work with most any SCA or similar helm. This is shorter then my standard "Aventail" length of 10 but it should great for neck protection without the full off the shoulder length. THe third photo show this camail properly attached, the leather and helm are not included. The rings hold up extremely well in combat and I have extras for the occasional repair. New, no problems.
