Description
Antique Tribal Ifugao Ginuttu Shell Belt and Bolo Knife Museum Quality Northern Philippine Tribal Artifact I’m truly pleased to offer this fine and rare pre-20th Century Northern Philippine Ifuagao Ginuttu Shell Belt and Bolo Knife. While the term “museum quality” is often incorrectly used, it’s a perfect description for this masterpiece. This bolo is extremely well made and extensively used. It features a hard steel handle tightly bound with most of the original rattan. The overall length of this bolo is a stout 16” with a still sharp 10” blade. It is housed in a traditionally decorated and well maintained 10” wooden scabbard. The Ginuttu wooden shell belt at a full 48” long with a rich and encrusted patina is truly a masterful work of original antique art. The shells are absolutely magnificent, and have the look and feel of being almost "fossilized" One need only see the beauty and detailing of the Ginuttu’s original binding to evaluate the character and quality of this fine piece. It is complete and there are no broken shells. This Bolo was a part of one of the finest private collections in the Philippines, belonging to a close associate of former Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos. An Antique Ifugao Ginuttu Shell Belt and Bolo Knife of this vintage and quality would cost a minimum of several thousands of dollars through a gallery or some of the notable tribal online websites that we’re all familiar with. My asking price for this fine Bolo with Ginuttu is quite reasonable considering the age, condition and rarity of this beautiful tribal specimen. This Bolo with Ginuttu is being offered in a "Buy It Now" format, so you don't need to be a watcher who simply looks and waits till the last minute, if you are really interested, please make a reasonable offer. My personal tendency is to be more liberal with my pricfing EARLY in the auction cycle, so don't wait! If you have any questions about this fine piece, please ask. I will consider all REASONABLE offers. This is a wonderful and textbook example of a very fine traditional Filipino Ifugao Ginuttu Shell Belt and Bolo. For the tribal art or sword / knife enthusiast this is a must have, as a piece of this quality seldom comes on the market in a venue like Ebay. Don’t miss your opportunity to own this fine tribal artifact that is truly museum quality! Thank you. Please see pictures as part of description. Experienced collectors know, and new collectors should be aware that truly vintage and/or antique items will have some type(s) of slight or minor imperfections or marks of character. These are the time-acquired features that lead collectors to wonder about how the piece must have been used and by whom. Such marks of use and character give fine pieces their authenticity, charm, and desirability. Please understand that most of the items that we sell are either truly vintage or antique, so expect some wear unless we specify mint or similar condition. Before placing a bid please carefully review photographs and if you have any questions e-mail me before bidding to avoid any potential misunderstanding. LIVE LIFE FULLY…DON’T BE A WATCHER… BE A BIDDER!!!
