WEYERSBERG KIRSCHBAUM & Co Bayonet and Scabbard for Auction. Please see the 10 Pictures.Folks..I'm WAY out of my Areas of Knowledge with This or any other Military Items. All I can Do, is describe this to the Best of my Ability and between that and the 10 pictures, those of you that are experts can deduce WHAT the story on this Bayonet is. ONE thing...There appears to have been an IDENTICAL Bayonet and Scabbard that was recently on Ebay, if that helps...The item number to THAT Auction is 250328056680 and everything about THAT one, including Measurements, Construction and EVERYTHING are the same as THIS one. This one has Matching #'s on the Bayonet & Scabbard, which is M4981. With the Scabbard in Place, This Bayonet measures a little over 21" and the Blade alone is a little over 15 1/2". One side of the base of the blade reads "WEYERSBERG KIRSCHBAUM & Co SOLINGEN". The other side of the Base of the Blade has a Wear Spot that is Identical to a Wear Spot I saw on yet another matching one searching ebay a few months ago. You REAL Experts know what I'm talking about, because I remember that the guy who was auctioning THAT one on Ebay a few months ago, explained that the wear or "Ground" spot is a common and known thing for SOME reason..I just can't remember what that was?? As you can see in the pictures, the base of the blade on the side with this spot reads from What I can make out "???TLO ARGENTINO 189? M4981". As for Condition...Everything about this Bayonet/Scabbard is TIGHT & NICE with Nothing Loose or any Wobbles. It does have that small ding on the Scabbard about 2/3rds of the way down that you can see in a couple of the pictures. The Spring loaded Button at the Top Works Smoothly and just as it should. The Blade itself appears to be in Very Nice Shape with No Rust or anything like that...Still Shiny. The VERY Top of the Handle Shows some old Smoothed over, NON active old Rust on the sides, but not the edges. This hasn't affected anything at all and is confined to this small end that must have had an unprotected Steel Part and to an even Lesser Degree on a smaller part of the end of the "Hilt" part that curves and comes to a knob that you can see in one of the pictures here..Like I say..It's all kind of Smoothed Over. Overall, Everything just seems to be in Very Nice Shape and Fully Functional. I can't think of anything else to say...If I've forgotten anything..Just drop me a line.
